Tara Lily Shares “Break The Motion” With a Super 8 Performance

Since releasing her debut album Speak In The Dark in 2024, Tara Lily has opened for Raye in London and worked with King Krule. Those collaborations suggest an artist deliberately moving through the less settled parts of British music. Her new song, “Break The Motion,” extends that direction without leaning on the names attached to it.

Initially written on synth and developed with longtime collaborator Dom Valentino, the track is built around a specific internal tension. Lily describes it as “about reckoning with your inner storm, self-destruction, and riding the cycles of chaos.” The song does not resolve that feeling quickly. Its accompanying visual, directed by Temi Adegbayibi, was shot on Super 8 film inside Royal Albert Hall at 5 a.m. The empty hall and the grain of the format give the performance an uneasy, pre-dawn stillness rather than a promotional polish.

“Break The Motion” arrives without a larger project attached. As a standalone release, it extends the ideas of her debut with a more cinematic visual statement. The setting and the description are equally deliberate.
