The new box set brings together the original cast recording, The Hamilton Mixtape, and the complete Hamildrops series for the first time.
The 10th anniversary of Hamilton is being marked with a box set that consolidates the musical’s entire recorded footprint. Rise Up! Hamilton: The Anthology, announced by Lin-Manuel Miranda, collects the original Broadway cast recording, 2016’s The Hamilton Mixtape, and Hamildrops: The Complete Collection. Due on 25 September in seven-LP and five-CD editions, the set gives the monthly Hamildrops series its first physical release.
That series, which ran as a digital-only experiment, pulled the show’s songs toward pop, folk, and parody. The anthology includes The Decemberists’ “Ben Franklin’s Song,” The Regrettes’ version of “Helpless,” Ibeyi’s “Rise Up Wise Up Eyes Up,” and “Weird Al” Yankovic’s “The Hamilton Polka.” “One Last Time (44 Remix)” pairs Christopher Jackson with Barack Obama and BeBe Winans. The Hamilton Mixtape, meanwhile, carries the heavier collaboration wing, with appearances from Busta Rhymes, Nas, Usher, Sia, Miguel, Queen Latifah, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Riz MC, Chance the Rapper, and John Legend.
