Brandon Flowers Performs “An American Dream” on Fallon, Gives Killers Album Update

The Killers frontman brought his country-leaning solo song to late-night television and offered a brief update on the band’s next record.

Brandon Flowers stopped by The Tonight Show to perform “An American Dream,” a wistful country ballad from his recent solo album Thrasher. Backed by his band and several backing singers, he delivered the song as a direct reflection on whether money can buy happiness.

Thrasher arrived last month and includes contributions from David Rawlings, pedal steel guitarist Bruce Bouton, and harmonica player Charlie McCoy, whose credits include Bob Dylan’s Nashville recordings. In conversation with Jimmy Fallon, Flowers described the sessions as weighted by storytelling. “Every day started with 45 minutes of storytelling,” he said, recalling McCoy’s stories about Dylan, Roy Orbison, Garth Brooks, and Waylon Jennings. “It’s
