Hayley Williams Responds to DHS After “Fuck ICE” Remarks at Chula Vista Show

A federal agency suggested the Paramore frontwoman thank law enforcement for their service. She answered on Instagram Stories the next day, and neither side softened the language.

Hayley Williams has kept “Fuck ICE” and “Free Palestine” in her set since the Hayley Williams Show began in September. After a weekend stop in Chula Vista, California, where she shouted both during “Ice in My OJ” from last year’s Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, the response came from the Department of Homeland Security.

The set also includes a statement Williams delivers before “True Believer,” calling Christian nationalism “the greatest threat to American democracy.” Fox News asked DHS for comment on the ICE remarks. A spokesperson said: “America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe. We suggest Ms. Williams to thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice.”

On Monday, Williams posted a screenshot of that statement to her Instagram Stories with a suggestion of her own: “And may I suggest all Nazi bitches suck on my fat dick.” A DHS representative did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.

The exchange is less a feud than a measure of how far an artist with a mainstream pop audience will carry a slogan onstage. Williams
