Peel Dream Magazine will release an expanded vinyl edition of Taurus on 11 November, with a new song, ‘Blind Faith’, arriving alongside it. The single is not a standalone teaser so much as a component of the reissue. The record is being reopened, and this is what was found inside.
Expanded editions sit in an awkward place in current release schedules. They can work as genuine revision, gathering stray material into a coherent second look at a record. They can also work as inventory, adding an unreleased track or two to justify another pressing. The distinction rarely gets stated outright, and it is usually the added song that settles it. ‘Blind Faith’ will be the test case here.
The timing puts pressure on the extra track. A song appended to a reissue is heard differently than one placed on a new album: it arrives with the original record already fixed in the listener’s memory, and it either extends that shape or sits outside it. That is a small stakes question, but not an irrelevant one for a release whose main selling point is the same album, again.
Taurus returns on 11 November. The expanded edition is the format. The song is the argument for it.
