Geordie Greep Cancels Four North American Dates After Misconduct Allegation

Flyers accusing Geordie Greep of rape were handed out outside his Vancouver show, where he denied the allegation from the stage. Four North American dates have since been canceled.

Geordie Greep’s North American tour has shed its final four dates after an allegation of sexual misconduct was made against him in Vancouver. Before Thursday’s show at the Pearl, flyers were handed to concertgoers outside the venue accusing Greep of rape. He denied it from the stage.

The former black midi frontman came out an hour late and without his backing band. He told the crowd he had been out at bars with band members the night before, ended up at a late house party, and misread a situation with someone there. He said he apologized quickly, described it as a misunderstanding on his part, and said he felt extremely bad and extremely sorry. He added: “I would never rape a woman. I’m not a rapist. It’s not how that went down.”

Greep played the Vancouver show solo, saying he did not want to force his band to perform in light of what had happened, and said proceeds from the gig would go to a Vancouver organization supporting victims of sexual violence. No further statement followed.

The Boise and Salt Lake City shows, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, were canceled, along with Boulder and Denver next week. Ticket buyers were notified their purchases had been refunded. The last two dates of the North American run, in Des Moines and Omaha, were still on sale at press time. A European tour is scheduled to begin November 1.
