Alysha takes faith into gothic electronic territory on new single “Take It or Leave It,” co-produced with Matt Rist. The video, directed by Ché Deedigan, places a contemporary freestyle routine inside a church.
Faith songs rarely arrive in the shape Alysha gives them on “Take It or Leave It.” Co-produced with Matt Rist, the single uses goth and new-wave textures, shadowy synths and nocturnal electronics, to write about belief without defaulting to gospel, R&B, or country.
Alysha is explicit about intent: “I wanted to write a Goth/Electronic song about my faith which alternative people can also enjoy.” The track even references 666 as provocation rather than avoidance, while the music video, directed by Ché Deedigan, places her contemporary freestyle dance in a church.
That tension is not new. Raised in St John’s Wood on Joss Stone, Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill, Siouxsie & The Banshees, and church gospel, she wrote from age 10 and released her debut single “David Attenborough” at 16 before a 2023 shift toward darker sound. Recent tracks “Lord, Help Me” and “Finer Things” built her profile through Wild Paths and Forwards, sharing bills with Greentea Peng, Hak Baker, and The Jesus & Mary Chain.
“Take It or Leave It” arrives ahead of three stadium dates in Japan this October supporting LANY. The single is out now.
