Priya Ragu’s new single ‘Finally’ works as a re-entry point rather than a restart. The Tamil-Swiss artist uses the track to signal the shape of her next album, Madras, while keeping attention on songwriting instead of announcement.

The album was written during an extended stay in India and recorded between Zurich, Goa, Mumbai, Kerala, and Chennai—the city that gives the record its title. Her brother Japhna Gold remains the sole producer and close co-writer, a dynamic that carries over from her previous work.

‘Finally’ leans into fusion without treating it as decoration. The single’s blend of pop melody and South Asian rhythmic detail feels integrated rather than sampled for texture. Following 2023’s Santhosam, Madras appears to extend that project’s range while sharpening its pop instincts.

Ragu’s return matters less for novelty than for continuity: she keeps building a catalog where Tamil heritage and contemporary pop are not in opposition.
