A representative for Charli XCX has clarified the credits on her new album after Sky Ferreira posted remarks online.
A representative for Charli XCX has responded to recent online comments made by Sky Ferreira regarding the album ‘Wuthering Heights’. Ferreira had posted remarks on Instagram implying that songs on the album, beyond her credited feature, originated from her own unreleased material.
In a statement to Stereogum, Charli XCX’s team clarified the official credits. “The only song on the album that Sky Ferreira is featured on is ‘Eyes Of The World’, for which she is rightfully credited as a featured artist and co-writer,” the representative stated. They confirmed that no other tracks on ‘Wuthering Heights’ contain writing or other contributions from Ferreira.
Ferreira’s comments, made in replies to followers, also touched on her own creative process and income. She suggested a pattern of other artists recording her old songs. The exchange highlights the often opaque boundaries of songwriting and demo sharing within pop music’s collaborative networks.
