The film tracing Joe Keithley’s shift from hardcore punk icon to Green Party politician is now available for streaming.
The documentary ‘Something Better Change,’ which charts the unlikely political journey of D.O.A. frontman Joe “Shithead” Keithley, has moved to video on demand. After a theatrical run last year, the film is now available to rent through VEEPS or to watch as part of a VEEPS All Access subscription.
Directed by Scott Crawford, known for his work on the Washington D.C. punk chronicle ‘Salad Days’ and the ‘CREEM’ magazine documentary, the film follows Keithley during his 2022 reelection campaign for a council seat in Burnaby, British Columbia. It frames his transition from a foundational hardcore voice to an elected Green Party official as a continuous thread of activism.
The documentary argues that the energy and ethos of punk can translate directly into local political engagement. It features interviews with figures like Dave Grohl, connecting Keithley’s musical legacy to his later civic work. The film’s release on a major streaming platform makes this specific story of punk perseverance and political pragmatism more widely accessible.
