Without warning, promo, or a streaming service link, a new Drake single appeared online this week. The track, titled “Serious,” arrived not through a DSP rollout but buried within a mix posted to SoundCloud by OVO Sound co-founder Oliver El-Khatib. The song begins near the 3:40 mark of the Magician Mix, a format El-Khatib has used before to quietly insert new music into the open. It was later uploaded to a secondary YouTube channel, @plottttwistttttt, but not to Spotify, Apple Music, or any major service.

The move is less a strategy than a method. Drake has long used alternate channels—blog-era loosies, burner accounts, Instagram stories—to release material that sits outside the formal album cycle. “Serious” follows that logic. It exists without cover art, track listing, or any official declaration. The music simply appears, relying on discovery rather than delivery.
