Duffy Details Abduction and Assault in New Disney+ Documentary

The Welsh singer, who withdrew from public life over a decade ago, has shared her account in a new film.

Duffy has detailed her experience of being raped, kidnapped, and held captive in a new documentary for Disney+. The film, which premiered on the platform in the UK and Ireland, marks the singer’s first major public statement since she largely disappeared from music following her 2010 album Endlessly.

In a social media post accompanying the release, she stated the documentary was made to “give context to the silence.” She has not performed live in over 15 years, a period of absence she has previously alluded to as a consequence of trauma.

The documentary provides a direct account from the artist, whose 2008 debut Rockferry was a global success. Her decision to use a major platform like Disney+ to share her story underscores its intended reach and the gravity of her testimony, reframing her long absence from pop culture not as a mystery but as a documented survival.
