Eau the Music Details Debut Album ‘Light in the Dark’, Shares ‘In This Silence’

Montréal’s Eau the Music announces her self-produced debut album, introducing the gauzy, instinct-driven single ‘In This Silence’ — a meditation on the in-between.

Eau the Music — pronounced “O” — has no formal training, but her debut album, Light in the Dark, took shape through a solitary process of writing, producing, and mixing. The Montréal-born, Ottawa-based artist will release the full project soon, and its first single, “In This Silence,” sketches the record’s temperament: blurred dream pop, shoegaze weight, and alt-rock drift.

The track layers guitar textures with vocals that shift between major and minor, never settling into one mood. “It’s an ode to the liminal,” she explains. “What started as an emotional outpouring of discomfort with the in-between moments of life ended up being a call to embrace stillness and the magic it can bring.”

That friction — between unease and a kind of resolve — runs through Light in the Dark, which she describes as an unfiltered document of self-discovery, love, loss, and transitional quiet. The songs were built from instinct alone, a fact that lends the album a particular directness. Live, however, the material expands: she performs with a full band, turning the introspective into something communal.
