The new duo, pairing the Enumclaw member with a childhood friend, channels hip-hop and hardcore on a brash first single.
Eli Edwards of Enumclaw has formed a new duo called Casi with his childhood friend Xay Young. Their self-titled debut album is scheduled for release in June via Carpark.
The project marks a distinct turn from Edwards’ work in the guitar-driven Enumclaw. Developed during return trips to their Tacoma-area hometown, the music draws from hip-hop, hardcore, and nu metal. The lead single “JUMPER” is a loud, explosive introduction to that fusion.
Casi’s first show was intended for a venue in downtown Los Angeles. The duo says the track was directly inspired by that planned performance being cancelled due to a curfew enacted during immigration policy protests in the city.
