Denver progressive metal band Entropist announce their debut full-length, a dual-layered concept record, and release the new track “Intense Warmth.”
Entropist have released “Intense Warmth,” a second single from their forthcoming debut album The Vision. The record lands June 26, and it builds on the foundations set by their first outing, “Creation.” Both tracks are part of a larger narrative structure the Denver group has been piecing together since rekindling a dormant project during the pandemic.
The band’s origins trace back to 2013 in Greeley, Colorado, where four of the members lived as roommates. Guitarist Parker remembers bonding quickly over prog metal and djent, setting up a drum kit in the living room to learn early songs written by Solomon. Distance put things on hold until COVID-era Discord chats and Guitar Pro file exchanges revived the connection. The addition of guitarist Will Vinson completed a lineup that could finally realize the ambitious material.
The Vision is a concept album with two intertwined threads: a fantastical story of demons, celestial beings, and the void, and a more grounded examination of mental struggle, nihilism, and the search for meaning. The band calls it “a powerful and forward-thinking progressive metal odyssey” that explores a wide spectrum of soundscapes. Jamie King, who has mixed albums Entropist cite as favorites, produced, mixed, and mastered the record. The band says King’s work far exceeded their expectations.
Album artwork is a hand-painted canvas by Solomon’s wife, Shannon Bortfeldt, an impressionist rendering of the story’s opening scene. Of “Intense Warmth,” vocalist Smith notes the way it keeps building, with walls of vocals arriving as a decisive moment. The single is streaming now. Preorders for The Vision are open.
