The band’s singer is currently on their farewell tour due to a binding agreement, according to a recent interview.
Journey’s current farewell tour is proceeding with its full, if fractured, lineup. This includes singer Arnel Pineda, who is performing under contractual obligation rather than by choice.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Pineda indicated his participation is mandated by a binding agreement. The tour launched in February amid public legal disputes between founding guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain, and with Pineda facing domestic violence charges in the Philippines.
The revelation adds a layer of tension to a tour already defined by internal conflict. It frames the ongoing live shows as a business necessity for some members, complicating the narrative of a celebratory final run.
With no official end date announced, the tour is scheduled to continue for at least the next three months.
