The Atlanta rapper preps a quick-turn release following a mixed reception for his last LP, road-testing new material at festivals this spring.
Ken Carson will release a new album, Xperiment, on July 3 via Opium / Interscope. The announcement lands less than a year after More Chaos, a project that landed without much lasting impact, making this two-week turnaround feel less like a victory lap and more like a correction.
The Atlanta rapper has been previewing material on stage. Last month, a last-minute headlining slot at Rolling Loud Orlando became a testing ground for a 2hollis-produced track and the Playboi Carti collaboration “Cover My Ears,” which they performed again at Chicago’s Summer Smash this past weekend. The single is not yet formally detailed, but the twin outings signal it as a centerpiece of the new record.
Carson is also newly eligible for a Best New Artist Grammy nomination after recent rule changes opened the category beyond debut artists—a procedural footnote that may become relevant depending on how Xperiment lands. He remains booked for a headlining appearance at ComplexCon in Las Vegas this October.
