The Scottish duo met in a queue at Dalston Superstore and built a sound that pushes club kinetics through pop instinct. Their new EP lands May 27.
Kuleeangee have locked in their next EP. ‘Love & Affection’ comes out May 27 via Underplay Recordings, and new single ‘Daisies’ is already shifting.
Keshav Kanabar and Duncan Grant didn’t plan on meeting. They were both stuck in line outside Dalston Superstore, the East London queer club that has quietly nursed a lot of interesting dance music over the years. Kanabar is from Glasgow, Grant from Edinburgh. The conversation turned into a studio habit, and the music they make now isn’t far removed from that queue. A bit of anticipation, a lot of rhythm, and a real sense of being on the same frequency.
The tracks lean into house and pop at once, built on live bass and digital production that never feels too tidy. There’s a trace of that genre‑swapping looseness that made Screamadelica work, but they’re not chasing nostalgia. This is music for the hips. ‘Daisies’ hits that exact spot. It’s bright and a little nervy, all fizz and longing. The vocal turns around the need to be close to someone when things feel shaky.
Earlier cuts already caught some clubland attention in London. The EP tightens things up. Underplay Recordings is a small, sharp home, and this release slots neatly into their catalogue of after‑hours pop.
