Lande Hekt Previews Threadbare EP with New Single “Circles”

Lande Hekt’s return to solo work has moved quickly. Earlier this year, the former Muncie Girls leader released Lucky Now, her first album since the band split in 2023. On September 25, she follows it with Threadbare, a four-song EP on Tapete.

Lead single “Circles” suggests the EP narrows Hekt’s focus rather than repeating it. The song sits somewhere between jangling indie pop and a quieter, more deliberate guitar sound, with vocals that stay close and unforced. It has the kind of texture that would have made sense on early-’90s college radio without feeling like a period piece.

Hekt’s comment in the press release avoids overclaiming. “I wanted to try and push for something slightly more positive, which I’m trying to do more of generally — just to not fall apart,” she says. That tension between optimism and fragility is audible in the song.
