Stormy weather scrapped the rapper’s birthday performance, yet he still turned up at the Chicago festival and surprise-released *Maverick “Almost Forever”*.
The expected headlining set from Lil Uzi Vert at Lollapalooza on Friday never happened. Stormy weather forced organizers to cancel the performance, which the festival attributed to “weather issues” via Instagram—though an onstage announcement also cited “travel complications.” It was a notable absence on Vert’s 31st birthday, and a show that had been positioned as one of the day’s main attractions.
Vert didn’t stay invisible. He later appeared during Major Lazer’s set to perform “Just Wanna Rock,” a brief surprise that undercut the abrupt cancellation. Then came the actual pivot: a surprise EP titled Maverick “Almost Forever”, his first project since 2024’s Eternal Atake 2. The release coincided not just with his birthday, but with the tenth anniversary of The Perfect LUV Tape.
No statement accompanied the drop, no rollout preceded it. The timing, however accidental, reframed a lost festival slot into something less predictable—a flash of output rather than a headlining moment that didn’t materialize.
