The collaborative single from Fender’s 2025 album People Watching has become the longest-running No. 1 in UK history, surpassing Frankie Laine’s 1953 record.
Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In” has become the longest-running No. 1 single ever on the UK charts, clocking 19 weeks at the top and breaking a record that had stood since 1953. Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” held the previous mark with 18 weeks, a benchmark untouched for over seven decades.
Originally released on Fender’s 2025 album People Watching, the track gained the Dean-featuring version in June of that year. It took a steady climb to reach No. 1 the following February, and after winning Song of the Year at the 2026 BRIT Awards, it was only briefly displaced. Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift each managed a single week at the top during that span, but “Rein Me In” otherwise never let go.
Fender told the Official Charts Company he was “completely lost for words” at the news, thanking Dean and the fans. Dean marked the moment during her Lollapalooza headline set, bringing Fender out for their first US performance of the song together.
