Madeon and Slayyyter Collide on ‘Fire Away’ From New Album ‘Victory’

The French producer’s first single brings in the nu-sleaze singer for an anthemic track about love as conflict, bridging American hyperpop with European electronic sheen.

Madeon announced his new album Victory with a single that puts American nu-sleaze directly inside his polished French electronic frame. “Fire Away” features Slayyyter, the Missouri-raised pop disruptor, and it arrives ahead of the full album out June 26 via Mom+Pop.

The collaboration isn’t entirely out of nowhere. Slayyyter appeared on Sébastien Tellier’s latest record, another French connection that threads her brash, internet-scuffed pop through European studio traditions. Here, she anchors Madeon’s track without softening its edges. He described it as “perhaps the most anthemic record on the album” and “a song about love as warfare.” That combative gloss fits the singer’s persona, and the production leans into a big, unironic chorus without tipping over into pastiche.

Where Madeon’s previous album Good Faith worked through spiritual and existential themes with a lighter touch, Victory seems to be reaching for something more declarative. Recruiting Slayyyter for the lead single suggests a winking embrace of pop’s theatrical extremes. For her part, it’s another step away from the fringes and into a space where her voice can carry a larger hook without losing its character.

It’s a calculated pairing, the kind that makes sense once you see it. Two artists who treat pop as a medium for big gestures, meeting at a point where theatricality and precision overlap.
