The sequel to 2005’s ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ is officially arriving this summer via Warner Records.
Madonna has formally announced the release of her next album, ‘Confessions II’. The record is scheduled for July 3 via Warner.
The confirmation follows a period of online teases, including the artist clearing her Instagram and updating her bio with the lyric “Time goes by so slowly…” from the 2005 single “Hung Up”. A teaser video also previews a new track called “I Feel So Free”.
In a statement, Madonna framed the project’s intent with collaborator Stuart Price. “When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto: We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies,” she wrote. “After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space.”
The announcement positions the album as a direct sequel to 2005’s ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’, a record that re established her within electronic pop and club culture.
