Mark Tuan Moves Into Atmospheric R&B on New Single ‘Alone’

Mark Tuan’s 2026 begins with “Alone,” a single that trades the alt-pop textures of last year’s Silhouette for something more atmospheric and rhythm-led. The GOT7 member describes the shift not as a departure but as a direct result of what he wanted to say. “Genres are so blurred now anyway that I don’t see trying new style of music as a departure,” he told Hypebeast.

The track was produced by Peyote, whose work on Doechii’s Alligator Bites Never Heal caught Tuan’s attention. He was drawn to the album’s storytelling and wanted a similar honesty in his own writing, not the polished version of himself but the person who surfaces when things go still.

Where Silhouette showed him outside the spotlight, “Alone” goes further into the overthinking and restlessness that silence tends to expose. Tuan is candid that the two projects come from different places. He spent the past year slowing down, removing self-imposed deadlines, and letting the music arrive on its own schedule. That patience led to a realization he had been avoiding: the loneliness he’d been covering with overwork. The single, then, is less a reinvention than a quieter act of accounting.
