Tokyo Tea Room Share ‘Hypnotised,’ Final Preview of Debut Album

Tokyo Tea Room have released “Hypnotised,” the last track to surface before their debut album, “Feel Forever,” arrives on September 18. Recorded by the Kent coast over the summer months, the album is built around what the band calls “natural hits of dopamine,” and the new single leans into that idea without overworking it.

The song pairs a slinky, disco-informed rhythm with a vocal that stays just above a murmur, keeping its hook in a state of suspension. It carries a late-summer weight, but the palette is cleaner and more deliberate than the band’s earlier material. The result is less about release than about the pull before one.

Songwriter Dan Elliott frames “Hypnotised” as a kind of blurring. “It’s about that feeling of being completely drawn in, when everything else around you seems to blur,” he explains. “It’s the uncertainty and fantasy that contribute to the excitement of something new, and I wanted to reflect that in this song, kinda like a soundtrack to your mind wandering into a daydream.”

As a final preview, the single does its job: it sharpens the profile of “Feel Forever” without giving away the full shape of the record.
