The deal includes compositions by Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and The Weeknd, among others, in a reported low-nine-figure acquisition.
The songwriting collective behind dozens of pop radio fixtures over the past two decades has struck a catalog deal. Max Martin and Shellback’s Wolf Cousins has entered a partnership with HarbourView Equity Partners, the investment firm announced, acquiring a selection of compositions that span from Taylor Swift’s “Style” and “… Ready for It?” to Ariana Grande’s “Problem” and The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”
Terms were not disclosed, though reports place the figure in the low nine figures. HarbourView declined to comment on the price.
The agreement pulls in tracks written by the collective’s wider circle, including Ilya Salmanzadeh, Tove Lo, and Oscar Holter. Songs like Imagine Dragons’ “Believer,” Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do,” and DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean” are also part of the deal.
“At HarbourView, we invest in culturally relevant intellectual property and the visionary creators behind it,” CEO Sherrese Clarke said in a statement. “Max Martin and Shellback continue to hold their place as hitmakers in contemporary music, and through Wolf Cousins they have built an extraordinary creative ecosystem spanning generations and genres.”
Martin and Shellback framed the sale as a natural extension of the collective’s ethos. “Wolf Cousins was founded to bring songwriters and producers together in an environment built on collaboration, mentorship, and creative development,” they said. “HarbourView’s long-term vision and respect for creators make them a natural partner for this body of work.”
The acquisition adds to HarbourView’s growing portfolio, which already includes rights tied to Quincy Jones, Slipknot, Kelly Clarkson, and Christine McVie. It has bought more than 70 catalogs since launching in 2021.
