Miley Cyrus Signs to Atlantic Records

Miley Cyrus has signed with Atlantic Records, Rolling Stone confirmed, marking a departure from Columbia Records, where she spent the past four years. The move places her alongside artists like Bruno Mars, Charli XCX, and Cardi B, and signals another unorthodox chapter for a singer who has rarely followed industry convention.

Cyrus joined Columbia in 2021, releasing Endless Summer Vacation in 2023 and the recent Something Beautiful. Her tenure there was defined by “Flowers,” a track that won her first two Grammys in 2024 and became a streaming-era anomaly. A commercial peak like that would typically anchor a major tour, but Cyrus has not headlined a trek since the Bangerz era a decade ago. She’s spoken openly about lacking the desire to tour, telling one outlet last year, “I wish I had the desire, but I don’t.”

That self-possession has long shaped her career. After her Disney launch and the inescapable “Party in the U.S.A.,” she veered sharply with 2013’s Bangerz and its self-financed, convention-skewing tour. She spent the latter half of the 2010s under Sony’s RCA imprint, where the glam-rock pivot of Plastic Hearts preceded an internal move to Columbia. Now, Atlantic gains an artist who seems to operate increasingly on her own terms. In a recent conversation with Wonderland, Cyrus spoke of “feeling aligned with my purpose, my power, and my gifts.” There’s no word yet on what the signing will yield first, but for someone who’s treated major-label structures as mutable, the change feels less like a reinvention than a recalibration.
