Al Jourgensen confirms the end of Ministry, previewing the final album with the exhausted industrial-metal single “Burned Out.” A European farewell tour begins in 2027.
Ministry is calling it. Al Jourgensen, who launched the project in 1981 as a gothy synthpop act before sharpening it into a punishing industrial-metal force, has confirmed the band will cease after one last record and a farewell trek.
The final album, Hate To Go (Take Out Or Delivery), arrives later this year. First single “Burned Out” doesn’t try to reignite old fires. Over grinding, familiar riffs, sampled news clips — on ICE, the Epstein files, Gaza — pile into heavy reportage, and Jourgensen’s refrain lands flat and tired: “I’m not sure if this world survives / I can’t tell you what’s truth or lies.” It’s not a call to arms. At 67, he radiates exhaustion more than anger.
“I’m fucking done,” Jourgensen told Blabbermouth. “I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. … It’s time to herd goats.” The tracklist includes a reunion with former bassist Paul Barker on the closer “We’re Still Here,” their first collaboration in years, and album art that’s exactly what you’d expect from a man done explaining himself.
A 2027 farewell tour opens with a European run alongside Die Krupps in April, preceded by a handful of U.S. dates this fall, including Red Rocks. The full routing is available below.
