New Lawsuit Details AI Vocal Work on Kanye West’s ‘Vultures 2’ and ‘Bully’

A recently filed lawsuit claims a producer was brought in on an emergency basis to create AI voice models for Kanye West’s Vultures 2 just days before the album’s release in 2024. The complaint, reported by Rolling Stone and filed anonymously in Los Angeles Superior Court, further alleges the same producer provided additional AI vocal programming for West’s solo album Bully without receiving payment or production credits.

According to the suit, the producer generated at least 13 custom AI voice models and over 400 individual vocal generations, using his own voice as source material. The work reportedly appears on five tracks from Vultures 2, the collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign. West had previously faced accusations of using AI to deepfake his voice on that project.

The producer says he began contributing to Bully in October 2024, well before its release this March. West publicly stated that Bully contained “no AI,” even though he has acknowledged experimenting with the technology in his process. The lawsuit seeks at least $110,000 for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violations of California law, as well as unpaid wages under Los Angeles’ Freelance Worker Protections Ordinance.

The case adds to a string of legal pressures on West, who recently settled a sexual assault lawsuit with a former assistant and, in March, was ordered to pay nearly $200,000 over an uncleared sample on his Donda track “Hurricane.”
