Chase & Status and Lancey Foux performed an unreleased collaboration during the unveiling of the RAVAL electric model at Projekts Skatepark, part of a 12-city series of activations.
Last week, a skatepark in Manchester became the site of the first public collaboration between drum n’ bass duo Chase & Status and rapper Lancey Foux. The occasion was a pop-up event by Spanish car manufacturer CUPRA, launching its new fully-electric RAVAL model.
Inside Projekts Skatepark, under the Mancunian Way, the pair and Foux debuted an unreleased track called ‘Homework’. They performed it from atop the vehicle itself, a literal staging that tied the music to the product. No official release details for the song have followed.
The appearance formed one node in a 12-city activation series CUPRA has been running. Nearby, the company also operated a temporary late-night space, the CUPRA City Garage, with neon aesthetics and an extended programme.
The crowd was drawn more by the bill than the car. For Chase & Status, it marked another moment of live ubiquity. Foux’s involvement underscored a continued blurring of lines between UK rap and club music circuits. Whether ‘Homework’ gets a proper release isn’t yet clear, but the track now exists outside the studio.
