Pitbull Sets Bald Cap World Record at London’s BST Festival

A fan’s viral video led to 22,141 people in bald caps at Hyde Park, setting a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of bald cap wearers.

A record with no previous holder now belongs to Pitbull and a sea of bald caps. On Friday night at BST Festival in Hyde Park, 22,141 fans entered the venue wearing skin-toned caps, enough to set a Guinness World Record for the “largest gathering of people wearing bald caps.” The rapper, who headlined the event, accepted the plaque on stage. “I’m speechless. Who would have thought a first-generation Cuban would be record-breaking and record-making?” he said, according to The Guardian.

The stunt didn’t emerge from a marketing department. Podcast host and cultural commentator Jack Remmington posted a TikTok noting that BST’s 65,000 capacity was “easily enough to break the world record of people cosplaying as Pitbull.” The video went viral, Remmington got in touch with Guinness World Records and BBC Radio 1’s Greg James, and a text to Pitbull sealed the attempt. The artist announced the record hunt in February, urging fans to show up bald-capped.

Guinness adjudicator Will Munford clarified a crucial detail: the distinction wasn’t for bald people, but for bald cap wearers—including Pitbull, who is bald. He donned one himself to be counted. Verification required 400 volunteers checking attendees at entry points, plus drone footage analyzed by 42 counters backstage.

The record now exists where none did before, shaped by a fan’s sideways idea and a large crowd’s willingness to play along. It’s a minor, absurd moment in the festival calendar, built entirely outside the usual industry machinery.
