Polish black/death metal band Massteron have set September 4 as the release date for their debut album, Second in the Spheres, and shared the new track “Achronon.”
The band draw from ’90s black and death metal, but “Achronon” avoids the stiff revivalism that often follows that influence. The playing is dense and direct, with an atmosphere that feels tied to the band’s own language rather than a period copy.
In a statement accompanying the premiere, Massteron described the song as “a time-bending opus” from the album and spoke of “crushing astral hymns of anti-locality” and “archaic energies.” The language is ornate, but the music underneath carries enough weight to keep the description from floating away.
