The Coral Bring ‘388’ to First Headline Tour in Three Years

The Coral released their 13th album, 388, with little advance notice, and the response has underlined what the band’s longer arc already suggested: their instinct for raw, immediate songwriting remains intact. Backstage at Victorious Festival, James Skelly and Nick Power framed the record as a deliberate return to the sounds and attitudes of their teenage years.

The sessions drew on influences including Zambian rock, and the resulting material leans into the chemistry the band has built over time. That connection to their early period was already being revisited through their book tour about the making of the debut album and the documentary Dreaming of You: The Making of The Coral.

For the live shows, festival sets are being kept tight. At shorter slots the band may play only one or two new tracks, but the autumn headline tour will hold three or four songs from 388 alongside a deeper look across the catalogue. The October run, with two further dates in December, marks their first headline tour in three years, following the dates supporting Sea of Mirrors.
