Shane Gillis Sets Guinness Records at Lincoln Financial Field; Meek Mill and Three 6 Mafia Perform

Shane Gillis turned Lincoln Financial Field into the biggest comedy club on record Friday night. The Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania native sold 77,047 tickets for his July 17 show at the Philadelphia Eagles’ home stadium, setting new Guinness World Records for largest audience at a comedy gig (73,496 in attendance) and most tickets sold by a solo comedian. Guinness adjudicator Andy Glass was on site to confirm both marks.

The evening was as much a celebration of Philadelphia culture as a stand-up set. Meek Mill performed during the show, and Three 6 Mafia also took the stage. Dave Chappelle made an early appearance, trading riffs with Gillis about Donald Trump and Air Force One. West Chester’s Bam Margera, Philly comics Matt McCusker and Big Jay Oakerson, and Eagles players Jordan Mailata and Cooper DeJean all joined in a night that blurred the line between comedy and a local heavyweight concert.

Gillis has been stacking venue records for years — over 100 headline shows, more than a million tickets, and 34 venue highs from Scotiabank Arena to Climate Pledge Arena. The previous attendance record for a comedian belonged to Germany’s Mario Barth, who drew 67,733 to Berlin’s Olympiastadion in 2008. The new ticket‑count category, established just this year, set the bar at 54,000 and now stands at a number that will be difficult to chase. Naomi Watanabe holds the current female record with 44,356 sold at the Tokyo Dome.

The Northeast’s wildfire smoke didn’t dent turnout. “I’d put a hazmat suit on to be here,” one fan told CBS News outside the venue. Gillis, typically stoic, closed the night with a fireworks display and a brief, genuine address: “I love you guys so much. This means literally everything to me.”
