Earlier this month, Bruce Springsteen played Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released” in public for the first time, at the Music America: The Songs That Shaped Us concert in West Long Branch, New Jersey. It was the 13th Dylan song to enter his live catalogue, a thread that began long before the E Street Band had a name.
