Sublime Announces First Album in 30 Years, ‘Until The Sun Explodes’

The band, now fronted by Jakob Nowell, confirms a new studio album for release this fall.

Sublime will release its first new album in three decades this fall. Titled Until The Sun Explodes, the record marks the definitive next chapter for the band with Jakob Nowell, son of the late Bradley Nowell, as its frontman.

The announcement follows a period of reintroduction. Jakob Nowell officially joined the band in 2022, leading to the single “Feel Like That,” which incorporated an archival vocal from his father. Last year’s “Ensenada” served as the first original track built around the new lineup’s dynamic.

The album’s title suggests a continuation of the band’s sun-bleached, Southern California ethos, but with a generational shift at its core. This move formally transitions Sublime from a legacy act into a contemporary project carrying its foundational sound forward.
