Way Dynamic Signs to Jagjaguwar, ‘Massive Shoe’ Reissued for International Release

The Melbourne songwriter joins a roster known for careful curation. His 2023 album gets a wider push alongside a run of UK shows.

Dylan Young’s project Way Dynamic has signed with Jagjaguwar. The label will reissue his album Massive Shoe, giving it full international distribution for the first time.

Young, who also plays in Cool Sounds and Good Morning, released the record independently last year. It’s a baroque indie pop set with lyrics that cut through. Quiet momentum built around it, enough to bring him to Brighton for The Great Escape in May, where a set on the Clash stage caught ears.

Now the album gets a second wind. Jagjaguwar’s involvement places it in a catalog that doesn’t chase trends, and the reissue arrives as Way Dynamic prepares for a busy second half of 2024. Festival appearances at Green Man and End of the Road are on the calendar, followed by a full UK and Ireland tour spanning late August and early September. Venues include Strange Brew in Bristol, Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, and London’s Scala.

The Melbourne scene has been productive lately, and this signing feels like a next logical step for an artist who’s been working steadily, often out of plain sight.
