whø? Returns with ‘Riding The Bassline’ EP

The four-track release on Who Is Paula channels classic electro through precise, tactile production.

whø? has a new EP out on the Who Is Paula label. Riding The Bassline collects four tracks of electro rooted in 808 and 303 hardware, with a sound that leans into both machine precision and physical warmth.

The title track moves at a steady, driving tempo. A rubbery bassline pushes against crisp drum programming while synth pads add an airy, melodic lift. “Voices” follows with a stiffer rhythmic frame, gradually opening into brighter harmonic textures. On “Teebee Love,” the groove turns looser. A grinding bass motif locks into a hypnotic pattern before the track peaks with a dramatic string-like synth climax.

Closer “I Can’t Get Enough Of That” is the most fractured of the four, breaking the beat into stuttering sub-bass hits and destabilized funk patterns. The result is direct but never purely cerebral; there is a current of heat beneath the circuitry.

Riding The Bassline is available now on Bandcamp.
