A quiet, transportive EP that favors atmosphere and patience over flash.
Yakuza Jacuzzi’s new four-track EP Wabi-Sabi arrives through Cyclical Dreams, a label that rarely misses when it comes to atmospheric electronics. The release leans into a soft synthwave wash with an east-facing mood, building a cohesive sound world out of texture and deliberate pacing.
The opener “Jade Emperor’s Peace Garden” sets the tone. Synth swells roll in and fade with purpose while flute-like tones move over water-like ambience. Linn-style drums add a subtle swagger, keeping the drift anchored without breaking the calm. What follows pushes further out. “Aerial Burial” takes a more exploratory turn, pulsing forward with a searching momentum that bends toward progtronica without overcomplicating itself. The title track refines these ideas into something tighter, balancing dynamism with a steady hand.
The closing “Jade Emperor’s Peace Garden Part 2” marks the EP’s most energetic moment. A rolling bassline and fine glitch textures bring a new tension, trading pure atmosphere for a more grounded, rhythmic pulse. It’s a closing that feels earned, leaving the record on a note of quiet confidence.
Wabi-Sabi doesn’t chase anything. It unfolds on its own terms. A rewarding listen for anyone drawn to electronic music that values restraint as much as mood. Available now on Bandcamp.
