An eight-song EP, Young Manhood & Other Donatable Organs, arrives October 16 through Warner Records, days after Bryan closed his stadium tour.
Zach Bryan will release an eight-song EP, Young Manhood & Other Donatable Organs, this Friday, October 16, through Warner Records. Two tracks carry guests: Lana Del Rey on “Lies” and Turnpike Troubadours on “Plainsman.”
Bryan announced the tracklist on Instagram, framing it as a thank-you after a year on the road. The EP follows his January full-length, With Heaven On Top, and arrives days after he closed his “With Heaven On Tour” run with a show in Auburn, Alabama. Three of the songs, “Lodi When,” “Robot Killed the Working Man,” and “Dog Days,” have already been played live during that run, so part of the record is familiar to anyone who caught a date.
The Del Rey feature extends a thread from earlier this year, when the two teased a collaboration without saying what they had made. Whether “Lies” is that song has not been confirmed. The Turnpike Troubadours credit keeps Bryan in the company of Oklahoma peers, a proximity that has always shaped his writing more than any Nashville address.
His year has also been political. Earlier this month he wore a “Free Palestine” shirt at Gillette Stadium and broke the venue’s all-time attendance record on the same night. Releasing a short EP immediately after a stadium tour, instead of a deluxe edition or a live album, reads as a decision to keep the output moving rather than package the year that just ended.
