Karol G Acknowledges Visa Risk Ahead of Coachella Headline Set

The Colombian star says she has been warned that speaking about U.S. immigration policy could jeopardize her visa status.

In a new Playboy interview, Karol G has addressed the political tensions surrounding her upcoming headline performance at Coachella. The Colombian artist stated that her team regularly advises her against speaking publicly about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, due to potential repercussions.

She explained the specific concern is that critical comments could lead to her visa being revoked. “You become bait, because some people want to show their power,” she said. Despite these warnings, Karol G indicated she intends to use her platform, noting the significance of her Coachella slot as the first Latina to headline the festival.

“I have a huge stage, and that’s why I want to wait, and if someone was ever to do something to me, I want to stand firmly on my stage for my community,” she told the magazine. The statement points to a calculated moment, where the scale of the Coachella audience could amplify a definitive political message.
