The pop artist will pull double duty on the May 2 episode, marking her third appearance on the show.
Olivia Rodrigo is set to host and perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 2. This marks her third appearance on the show, but her first time in the dual role.
The booking arrives ahead of the release of her third studio album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love,” which is scheduled for June. While the full album will not be out in time for the broadcast, it is likely she will perform its lead single, “drop dead,” which is slated for release next week.
Rodrigo’s history with SNL includes her debut as musical guest in May 2021, shortly after her initial breakthrough, and a return performance in December 2023 where she also made a brief cameo in a sketch. The move to host aligns with a tradition for major pop figures to take on both duties, situating the event as a strategic promotional moment within her album cycle.
