The iconic Indian vocalist, whose career spanned eight decades and included over 12,000 recordings, has passed away in Mumbai.
Asha Bhosle, the prolific and versatile playback singer whose voice defined generations of Indian cinema, has died. She was 92.
Bhosle passed away on Sunday in a Mumbai hospital due to multiple organ failure, as confirmed by her son and news reports. Her career, which began in the 1940s, saw her record an estimated 12,000 songs across eight decades, making her one of the most recorded artists in history.
