Peter Hook to Attend Rock Hall Induction, Rules Out Podium Appearance with New Order

The bassist confirms he will be present for the ceremony but will not share the stage with his former bandmates, citing their legal history.

Peter Hook has confirmed he will attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this November, where Joy Division and New Order are to be honored. In an interview with Rolling Stone, however, he firmly ruled out any symbolic on-stage reconciliation with his former New Order bandmates.

When asked if he would stand with them at the podium, Hook stated, “No. Not after what they did to me and my family, no.” This references the protracted legal disputes over the New Order name and band finances. He did not completely dismiss the idea of performing, but suggested it would require an apology first.

The induction highlights the enduring cultural impact of both groups, while the ongoing personal rift remains a definitive part of their story. Hook’s planned attendance, separate from any unified celebration, reflects the complex legacy being recognized.
