The UK post-hardcore band breaks a long silence with a record that leans deeper into melody. Out today on Run For Cover.
Basement’s new album Wired is out today, marking their first full-length since 2016’s Promise Everything. The twelve-track record arrives via Run For Cover and completes a slow return that started with the 2021 EP Spoiled.
The eight-year gap between LPs does not feel like a reunion narrative. Wired extends the band’s melodic turn, dialing back the harsher edges of their early material in favor of cleaner textures and a more measured pace. Songs like “Good News Is…” and “Earl Grey” show a group less interested in revisiting aggression than in refining the atmosphere they’ve been building since Colourmeinkindness.
As the album arrived, the members gave BrooklynVegan a brief, lighthearted interview about their favorite animal-themed album covers and music videos. It was the sort of press cycle move that signals a band at ease with where it stands. But Wired itself is a sharper proposition. It’s the sound of four musicians picking up a long-dormant conversation and writing what comes naturally, no grand statements required.
