Gold Panda Announces Ton Up, a Dance-Focused LP for Studio Barnhus

Gold Panda returns with Ton Up, a collection of rough-hewn dance tracks and service-station interludes, out June 26 on Studio Barnhus.

Gold Panda will release a new album, Ton Up, on June 26 via Studio Barnhus. The UK producer, Derwin Dicker, described the record on Instagram as “eight rough-hewn dance tracks and two cozy little service-station interludes.” The move to the Swedish label, a home for playful, off-kilter house and techno, underlines the directness in that description. It’s a noticeable chapter after 2023’s The Work, which leaned toward softer textures.

The first single, “Ding the Motor,” is out now. A chugging, kinetic track built around a persistent engine-like loop, it sets a hard-edged tone. The album’s cover art features a tightly packed pattern that Dicker himself flagged as potentially triggering for viewers with trypophobia, kinemortophobia, or a fear of rats. The tracklist, with titles like “Loser Mentality” and “Q K,” sketches a record split between club-tool directness and those brief interlude pauses.
