Bonnie Tyler No Longer in Coma, Remains in Intensive Care After Surgery

The singer has awakened after a month-long medically induced coma, but her family cautions that recovery will be gradual. Most summer concerts are now cancelled.

Bonnie Tyler is conscious after more than a month in a medically induced coma, but the singer remains in intensive care in Portugal. A family statement issued Monday described her condition as “very unwell” and emphasized that improvement is slow.

Tyler underwent emergency intestinal surgery in early May at a hospital in Faro and was later placed in the coma to aid recovery. The 74-year-old singer’s doctors expect a good outcome, the family said, though no timeline was given.

The health crisis has forced the cancellation or postponement of all scheduled shows through August. Her team is still hopeful about a slate of European dates running from late October to mid-December. Those concerts remain on the calendar for now.

“We would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and support from all over the world,” the statement read, adding that Tyler is aware of the messages and grateful. The family requested continued privacy and said further updates will come only when there are significant developments.

Before the emergency, Tyler had been booked for a full European tour spanning more than two dozen dates across 2026. For now, the road is on hold.
