A Las Vegas jury found former Compton Crips leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty in the drive-by murder of Tupac Shakur, bringing a legal conclusion to a case that had remained unresolved for nearly three decades.
A Las Vegas jury has found Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty in the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur. The 63-year-old former South Side Compton Crips leader was arrested in 2023 and charged with orchestrating the drive-by shooting that killed the rapper at age 25.
Prosecutors argued that Davis planned the attack after his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, was beaten by Shakur’s entourage shortly before the shooting. The case leaned heavily on Davis’ own 2019 memoir, in which he detailed his role in the killing.
The jury deliberated for about three hours before returning the verdict. Davis faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for October 13.
