The Molotovs Announce Second Album ‘Welcome To Urbia’

The Molotovs have confirmed their second album, ‘Welcome To Urbia’, set for release on 9th April 2027 via Marshall Records. The title track is out now, recorded at Konk — the north London studio founded by The Kinks — with producer Tony Hoffer, whose credits include Beck, The Kooks, and M83.

The single draws on the towns the siblings have passed through across nearly 700 shows in five years. Mathew Cartlidge says the song felt like a departure from the outset: “I really wanted to shake it up. My influences have also broadened, the more we played.” Issey Cartlidge describes the track as moody, driving, and industrial before a chorus that softens and opens.

The announcement follows their debut ‘Wasted On Youth’, which reached Number 3 in February. The band are midway through a UK and Ireland headline tour that includes two nights at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town, with a support slot for Razorlight at OVO Arena Wembley in December.

The quick turnaround between records partly reflects a band still building its live identity. But the shift in tone on the title track suggests ‘Welcome To Urbia’ is intended to do more than extend a formula.
