Less than a month after releasing her first double album, Carly Rae Jepsen is putting out eight more songs from those sessions. The speed is the story.
Carly Rae Jepsen has announced Day and Night (Continued), an eight-song companion to the double album she released last month. It arrives this Friday.
The timing is what separates it from the rest of her catalogue. Jepsen has issued B-side collections since Emotion: Side B in 2016, but those records have generally surfaced about a year after the album they trailed. This one lands less than a month after Day and Night, which suggests the sessions produced more than a double album could absorb, and that the B-side has shifted from postscript to a scheduled part of the release cycle.
Announcing the collection on social media, Jepsen addressed the audience that has followed those records from the start: “B side lovers I see you and I didn’t forget our not so secret pact! Let’s get freaky.” The track list includes “Yes,” “Wedding Season,” “Lullaby,” “In Pure Faith,” “Muscle Memory,” “Love Depressed,” “Reaching For a Star,” and “Sixteen and Rising.”
Day and Night is her eighth album and her first double, and it ranges across genres, with “On Wires,” “After All,” “Don’t Leave Me on the Dancefloor,” and “Versailles” as singles. A North American tour follows next year, including a debut at Madison Square Garden. She is also co-writing the stage adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You, with Lena Dunham writing the book, set for Broadway in August 2027.
